To say Mike OSheas head coaching career has started out pretty well might be a bit of an understatement — going 5-1 out of the gate with a Blue Bombers club that struggled severely last season, having numerous new faces both on the sidelines and on the field, and leaving the offence in the hands of a young quarterback who came to town with less than a handful of professional starts. And while quarterback Drew Willys heroics executing the two-minute drill in Winnipegs Week 3 and Week 6 come-from-behind road victories in Montreal and Hamilton are a big reason why the Blue Bombers sit atop the league standings, the rookie head coach continues to work to instil a single mentality in his team — if they continue to work to get better every week, they will. "Theres reasons why we have won the games weve won, and theres reasons why theyve been closer than we may have liked them to be," said OShea in his first media session since his teams 27-26 victory over Hamilton. "Theres reasons why weve lost a game, so I think its just all based on fact. Were not conjuring something up here. Were looking at the facts of why we are where we are, presenting those facts and showing them how we can be better, because its all about growth. Its all about getting better and improving every week. I mean, thats a pretty simple formula — harder to execute, obviously — but a simple mindset from the coaching staff that were going to improve every week." "Its been easier to coach and correct the mistakes after wins, so its been good that way so far for us. But its never 5-1 or skin-of-your-teeth. Its not that. Its always that, whatever that is — a consistent approach from the coaching staff. Continuing to inspect the things that are important to us, that allow us to win." Win or lose, OShea is approaching his teams preparation every week in the same way regardless of the results in the rear view mirror. "I think the coaching staff is doing what it needs to do to ensure we are consistent through our preparation," he said. "Weve all agreed to coach (the players) hard, as people say, because I believe thats what they would want. Thats what they need. I think players still crave a certain amount of discipline. So if we can help them win more games by keeping that same sort of coaching style I think theyll appreciate it and theyll respond to it. So I think the way were going, the way weve gone so far and what weve done, from a coaching perspective, is the way well keep on going." But the early success begs the question; how good can the 2014 Winnipeg Blue Bombers be? "We want to play our best football right now, but hopefully our best right now pales in comparison to what our best will be at the end of the season," added OShea when asked about his team reaching a pinnacle come late-season. "But its not by design — were not thinking way in the future that we want to play our best football there. Were talking about playing our best football this week. And coaching them; correcting the mistakes along the way so that our best football is better week-in and week-out." "I think we still have a lot of room for growth, but to be where were at now I think its good so far, but theres still a lot of room to go." NOTES: Starting right guard Patrick Neufeld suffered a leg injury in the first quarter in Hamilton and was listed as doubtful to return to the game. OShea says theyll see how things shape up by the end of the week, but believes Neufelds chances of starting Thursday night are "promising" ... After missing last week with a foot injury, slotback Nick Moore remains day-to-day and will be re-assessed later in the week ... Fellow slotback Cory Watson, who has been out of the lineup since Week 1 with a hamstring injury, should begin practicing again this week but his imminent playing status remains far from certain ... Zach Anderson is also being monitored for an undisclosed injury suffered Thursday night. Denzelle Good Jersey . He never mentioned anything about his hitting. The 33-year-old right-hander had success with both Sunday, pitching six solid innings and helping the offence-starved Mets with an RBI single as New York salvaged a doubleheader split with a 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Nyheim Hines Jersey . Despite Arsenals financial firepower, the 31-year-old midfielder was the only arrival in the January transfer window. Signed until the end of the season as injury cover, Kallstrom might not be fit until mid-March after arriving Friday at Arsenal having injured his back earlier in the week while training with Spartak Moscow. http://www.coltsfansshop.com/Colts-Johnny-Unitas-Draft-Jersey/ . The shortstop still grieves, but it will be nights like the one Segura had in a 5-2 victory Monday over the Cincinnati Reds that will provide some distraction. Peyton Manning Jersey . Both moves could have a ripple effect throughout the IndyCar paddock. KV Racing must now replace reigning Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan, who turned down an offer to return to the team that rescued him just before the start of the 2011 season when Kanaan didnt have a ride. The KV extension didnt require the Brazilian to bring any sponsorship money to the team, but Kanaan chose instead to join Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon and Charlie Kimball at Ganassi, which next year will field cars for five of the last seven Indy 500 winners. "I wanted to be in the best teams with the best guys who have been beating me forever. I thought about it every single day," Kanaan said. "The first question that I asked Chip was, What do I have to bring? And he said, Your helmet. That was a big weight off of my shoulders." KV has its sights set on a handful of other drivers, but topping the wish list is James Hinchcliffe, who is tied with Dixon with a series-best three wins this season. KV is offering the same deal to Hinchcliffe, who wouldnt have to bring sponsorship money to a team for the first time in his career. Hinchcliffe, in his second season at Andretti Autosport, is still waiting to see what his current team can offer. Andretti failed to come up with an offer during its exclusive negotiating period as the team waited for sponsor GoDaddy to decide if it will continue its involvement in IndyCar, and GoDaddy representatives insist no decision has been made. Now team owner Michael Andretti has to make a choice: With Ganassis switch to Chevrolet on Friday, his team could conceivably be third on the priority list next season behind Penske Racing and Ganassi. Andretti acknowledged he has "an interesting decision to make" regarding sticking with Chevrolet or moving to Honda. "We are weighing both options in regard to an engine manufacturer for 2014 and working to determine what is best for the team," he said. For his part, Roger Penske welcomed longtime rival Ganassi into the mix, "He will be a strong team for Chevy, tell him welcome to the club," Penske said -- but immediately asked where Andretti will bbe in 2014.dddddddddddd. Ganassi and Chevrolet both said the deal was put together quickly, but it wasnt much of a surprise. Ganassi runs Chevrolets in NASCAR, and he was very critical of Honda at the start of the season. Ganassi grumbled at the season-opener in St. Pete that Honda didnt seem committed to winning, and accused the manufacturer of trying to solve problems by sitting around singing "Kumbaya." Ganassis frustration mounted as Chevrolet drivers won four of the first five IndyCar races, including three by Andretti drivers. Ganassis first victory didnt come until July 7, the 11th race of the season, when Dixon won at Pocono. But it was the first of three consecutive wins for Dixon, who used the stretch to climb back into the championship race, and a win at Mid-Ohio made it four straight for Ganassi and Honda. A victory by Simon Pagenaud at Baltimore on Sept. 1 was another win for Honda and the manufacturer race is evened out now at eight each. But Chevrolet won the Indianapolis 500 with Kanaan, and is leading the championship race with Penske driver Helio Castroneves leading Ganassis Dixon by 49 points with three races remaining. Honda thanked Ganassi for its four championships, three Indy 500s and 40 wins since 2006. "It may be worth noting that when our previous -- and also very successful -- association with the Ganassi organization in Championship Auto Racing Teams competition ended after the 1999 season, Honda went on to win 15 races over the next two seasons, including both the 2000 and 2001 drivers championship, and the 2001 manufacturers championship," said Art St. Cyr, president of Honda Performance Development. "While this partnership is coming to an end, Honda and Honda Performance Development remain committed to achieving even greater IndyCar success in the future with our continuing and new partner teams," he said. Next season, Chevy will have IndyCar heavyweights Penske and Ganassi under the same roof. "They have shown they have a great product, and we wanted to be a part of it," Ganassi said. "Its something for our team to consolidate our manufacturers and be part of a winning effort. Weve had some great races and years with Honda, but an opportunity came about to be with Chevrolet, and they showed a sincere effort in wanting us to be part of their program."
