Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Craig Anderson stopped all 34 shots he faced and Kyle Turris provided all the offense Ottawa needed in a 2-0 decision over New Jersey at Prudential Center. Turris hit the net early in the first period on a power play and then added his second goal just ahead of the final buzzer. Anderson collected his third shutout of the season and very nearly snagged a piece of history for the Senators, who have won two of three and recorded at least a point in all of those contests. We can leave here with five out of six (points) on this road trip and feel good about what we accomplished, but we need to straighten up some things, get better in some areas, Anderson said. You cannot expect to win hockey games 1-0 getting outshot. Its just not good quality hockey. I think we all know that and were all going to be better, and we know it. Cory Schneider made just 14 saves for the Devils, losers of five consecutive games. Schneider was pulled for an extra attacker with 1:20 to play and almost witnessed a rare feat from the bench. Given a clear path at which to shoot after corralling a dump-in, Anderson came within two feet of scoring with 51.8 seconds remaining after flipping a shot straight up the middle, but the puck bounced and veered to the right of the crease. Damian Rhodes was the previous Sens goaltender to be credited with a tally, on Jan. 2, 1999 vs. the Devils in a 6-0 win at Canadas capital. In that game, Devils defenseman Lyle Odelein shot the puck from the offensive zone back into his own vacated net on a delayed penalty call and Rhodes was tabbed as he was the last opposing player to touch the puck. Turris then hit the empty net with less than a second to go. I dont think we played a bad game, Devils defenseman Eric Gelinas said. We dominated the entire game. I think we played well. They got an early power play goal and that was the game-winner right there. Its just a matter of scoring. Ottawa produced the games first goal just 2:47 in while up a man after Devils defenseman Jon Merrill was sent off for shooting the puck over the glass in his defensive zone. Erik Karlsson unloaded a shot from the right point near the blue line which was tipped in front by Turris. Anderson backed up that slim margin with 10 first-period saves, though he was helped out twice by his posts. After making 16 more stops in a scoreless second period, Anderson stoned Scott Gomez off a slow-developing 2-on-1 break with Jaromir Jagr just after the seven minute mark of the third period. Game Notes Anderson has posted 29 career whitewashes and 15 with Ottawa ... Prior to the contest, the Devils activated forward Patrik Elias from injured reserve, after missing five games with a groin injury ... The Senators scratched forwards Patrick Wiercioch (injury) and Colin Greening (healthy) ... New Jersey sat forward Damon Severson with a lower-body injury ... Ottawa went 18 minutes, 40 seconds of game time between the first and second periods without a shot on goal ... Sens winger Erik Condra left the game in the second period but returned for the third after being hit in the ear by a shot from teammate Alex Chiasson. Wholesale Nuggets Jerseys Authentic . Louis, MO (SportsNetwork. To be successful in biathlon is to be patient, focused and have stamina to keep up with the competition. Combining the endurance of cross-country skiing with the marksmanship of shooting, biathlon is arguably one of the toughest sports at the Winter Olympics. Yet for Canadian Jean-Philippe Le Guellec, all the elements an athlete needs to win in biathlon may come together for him today in the mens 10-kilometre sprint, being held at the Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex in Krasnaya Polyana. Originally born in Kingston, Ont., Le Guellec — hes nicknamed Tiji — became the first Canadian male to win a World Cup biathlon event when he won the 10K sprint in Ostersund, Sweden, in December 2012. This will also be Le Guellecs final Olympic competition. While Le Guellecs facing big challenges in his quest to land on the podium in Sochi, the three-time Olympian is looking like a real contender in an especially strong field. "I think podium is definitely possible. Everything has to fall into place, for sure. You have to have a good ski, you have to have a good shooting," says Le Guellec. "You dont need to be the fastest skier out there, you dont need to be the fastest shooter. But its an alchemy of both of them."Canadas also got two other competitors in the 10K: Nathan Smith of Calgary, Alta., and Brendan Green of Hay River, N.W.T. The 28-year-old Smith is competing in his first Olympics in Sochi, and hes feeling good about competing this time around after missing out on qualifying for Vancouver 2010. "This is my first time here. Its really quite a spectacle. All the money and work that went into it is impressive. Seeing it in person is amazing.dddddddddddd"Despite the optimism, today wont be easy for the Canadians. Theyre competing against the most decorated biathlete of all time — Norways Ole Einar Bjørndalen. Now attending his sixth Winter Olympics, the 40-year-old Bjørndalen is gunning for his seventh Olympic gold medal today. Norways got more than just Bjørndalen to contend for gold today, though: Emil Hegle Svendsen, a biathlon sprint specialist, is looking to take his third Olympic gold after winning two golds in Vancouver 2010. Svendsens closest rival is Frances Martin Fourcade, who also comes into the 10 kilometre as a medal favourite. The winner of the 2011-2012 overall World Cup title, Fourcade — he also has an older brother, Simon, thats competing in the same race — won the silver medal in the 15 kilometre mass start in Vancouver 2010 and is looking to upgrade to gold in Sochi. Theres still more competition for the top contenders, such as the home crowds favourite, Anton Shipulin of Russia. Yet the biggest competition for the athletes might be the Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex itself. Le Guellec describes the biathlon course as very tough. "The Russians have been boasting for quite a while now that its the toughest course out there. Toughest course in the world. And you know what? Theyre absolutely right," says Le Guellec. "They have vicious climbs and really technical downhills, which I absolutely love."Smith agrees that its a really challenging course. "This is my first time here and everyone told me it had a lot of hills - and it does. Its really impressive."
